When I was 33, I lost my business partner and husband to cancer. We were running several businesses together in the finance and consulting industry. The pain started when he was diagnosed in 2009 during a major recession and two days after our first child was born. Almost three years later, I lost my business partner, highest producer in our business and husband. That is when I understood the value of insurance. When he passed, I had a 5-week-old and a 2 ½ year old. I’m not sure what I would’ve done had we not planned. From that moment, I became inspired to support our business clients in managing risk and ensuring that if a catastrophe happens, you’re prepared. We must protect the assets we build, our businesses, employees, and families. Up until the point I needed insurance, I referred to insurance as a ‘necessary evil’…and it can be overwhelming with all the types: business, property, auto, liability, worker’s comp, bonds, life, health, and the list can feel like it goes on and on. In addition, I love providing information and training for business owners about things like sales and marketing strategies, creating value for clients, tracking KPIs, building relationships and the many things we can use to reduce costs, increase sales, and be financially sound. As the U.S. Chamber of Commerce reported, Small Business accounts for almost ½ of the American workforce and 44% of GDP.
