Both Pete and Paul talk about how important it was to find accurate and reliable data sources to power SimplyBind. The two dive into the extensive pre-launch planning and testing process. They also point out that by elevating the various unique perspectives and experiences across Coterie, they were able to work closely with Coterie’s underwriters and receive input from every team to successfully build the automated digital underwriting experience. It was truly a team effort across the company.
“We want to boost how we leverage data, make more efficient decisions, and automate underwriting,” Paul said.
Pete has three big lessons learned from building the experience for automated digital underwriting:
1. Have a defined end in mind.
2. Can’t do it alone- it is a team effort.
3. You don’t need to do it all at once.
Above all, Pete shared that Coterie “wanted to create something that can be used and grow with agents’ feedback.” The experience is “going to accelerate and enable their ability to transact micro and small commercial business opportunities with much more ease and speed,” he said.
Paul, who has 18 years of data experience, spoke about the “why” behind SimplyBind. He shares his own experience as a business insurance consumer and the desire to help agents focus on building relationships as opposed to filling out forms.
